Are there any special precautions I should take while riding my electric board in the city?

Yes. In addition to the precautions outlined in your Board Owners Manual avoid riding in areas near cell phone towers, radio towers, high voltage power lines, or other powerful electromagnetic equipment as this could interfere with the signal between your remote and your board.
